Visit Us

The apiary contains over 16 colonies in a variety of different beehives and there is a large viewing gallery, with disabled friendly access. This enables the public to safely see the bees from behind a glass wall. The apiary and viewing gallery is located about 50 metres from the Countryside Centre along the path towards the lake. Parking is available at the entrance to the park and disabled parking is available closer to the building.

Between Easter and September, every Wednesday morning and on some Sunday afternoons (weather dependent), you will find a beekeeper available to answer your questions and you can watch hives being opened and inspected. We are open at other times for Beginner’s Courses, Bee Taster sessions, Adopt a Hive sessions, school and other group visits. You can also buy honey and beeswax produced by the apiary bees in the park café.  For more information and how to book a group visit please contact us – E-mail

The apiary is run solely by volunteers and takes a lot of time and money to keep it going. If you would like to help the bees then there is a Donation Box located at the end of the viewing gallery. You can also become an associate member for £10 a year. Contact us if you would like more information about membership.
